Lamb Cakes Are the Dessert of the Season

About a month ago, friend-of-the-blog and New Orleans baker Bronwen Wyatt posted a 9-slide line drawing tutorial showing a clever method to make a lamb-shaped cake using only a loaf and two cupcakes. Since Bronwen posted, the world of professional and amateur bakers has gone wild. Stacey Mei Yan Fong, the author of 50 Pies, 50 States, was moved to make a lamb-shaped savory pie, topped with downy mashed potatoes. Pastry chef Natasha Pickowicz used the guide to make a sleepy little grey cat.
